Location: Peter Graham Scholarly Commons, 114 Bird Library

A day of love and collective action for Black history

Join the Syracuse University Humanities Center in celebrating the observed birthday of civil rights activist Frederick Douglass on February 14th. Today's "Douglass Day" traditions engage thousands of people across the globe to create new, freely available digital resources for learning about Black history.

To date, more than 7,000 transcribers from 135 institutions around the world have registered to participate! - DouglassDay.org

A festive "transcribe-a-thon" atmosphere with music and refreshments connects us virtually and in person as we work together to transcribe the correspondence of Frederick Douglass this year, from materials held at the Library of Congress. [Read more about the project.]

Please bring your own wifi compatible laptop or tablet if you are able. A limited number of work stations will also be available on a rotating basis.
