Dear Toni Morrison: Notes Towards a Sustainable Black Sovereignty
Time: April 5, 2024, 3 p.m. - 5 p.m.
Location: Virtual
UPDATE: This event will take place via Zoom.

Kristie Dotson (University of Michigan)
Presenting this year's Anbar Lecture in Philosophy, Dotson discusses her current book project, a collection of philosophical love letters to notable, infamous, and/or unknown Black women in the United States. Tentatively entitled, Love Politic, it is a Black feminist world building project. Each letter in the volume tackles some topic that emerges periodically as part of existing as a Black woman in the United States of America. The focus of this lecture is Dotson's letter to Toni Morrison, which explores the question, “what does a sustainable, Black sovereignty look like here?” The letter continues to sketch an intergenerational “dream session” between Morrison and the author on issues of Black sovereignty on this land.
