From One Studio, Many Paths: Meštrović and His Students

Time: Feb. 5, 2027, 4:30 p.m. - 6:30 p.m.

Location: Shaffer Galleria | Shemin Auditorium

Part of the Syracuse Symposium

Part of the Syracuse Symposium series.

Susan Fisher, guest curator of It Will Go, delivers a keynote exploring how Ivan Meštrović's hands-on, collaborative studio practice as sculptor-in-residence (1947–1955) shaped four students—William Artis, Luise Kaish, Aldo Tambellini, and James Wines—who went on to work across sculpture, painting, film, and architecture. Held in the Syracuse University Art Museum galleries alongside the works themselves, the talk unfolds as a shared act of close looking before the day closes with a public reception celebrating this legacy of mentorship and making.
