Registration Deadline: 2024 NEH Fellowship (And Beyond) Writing Circle
Time: Jan. 8, 2024, 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.
Location: Virtual
The writing circle is primarily designed to support faculty of all academic ranks planning to submit proposals for this year’s NEH Fellowship or Summer Stipend programs. Note that faculty interested in comparable fellowship programs, such as ACLS, National Humanities Center, etc., are also welcome to participate. Early and mid-career faculty are especially encouraged to attend.
Through workshop, discussion, and revision, participants in the spring writing circle will strengthen their proposals and increase their competitiveness for fellowships.
The group will meet via Zoom, usually for 60 minute sessions on a Thursday or Friday morning to workshop a proposal. There will be a brief planning meeting in early February, with regular meetings to be scheduled through early April.
BEFORE YOU APPLY - writing circle members will be asked to:
- ATTEND ALL MEETINGS
- share a full project proposal with the group at least once
- provide feedback on colleagues’ drafts, including serving as lead discussant at least once
The group will be co-led by a faculty member with successful fellowship experience. Dr. Sarah Workman, Associate Director, Research Development (Humanities) will provide additional support.
The group is generously supported by the Syracuse University Office of Research, the College of Arts and Sciences, and the Syracuse University Humanities Center.
