Part of the Syracuse Symposium series.

New York based Mohawk artist, Alan Michelson, who recently won a commission to create a permanent monument to the Native nations of what is now the Commonwealth of Virginia, will talk about his art and the issues that inform its creation.  Michelson’s artwork is perfectly suited for a meditation on how a Native American visual artist draws on historical notions of place and its intimate relationship to the indigenous peoples connected to it.

Principal Organizer: Scott Manning Stevens, Native American Studies
