Renowned composer visits Syracuse to unpack race and ‘repair’ in classical music (if that’s even possible)

One of the leading American composers of his generation, Anthony R. Green, 38, is in residence this week in Syracuse, with an array of concerts and conversations that highlight his music and his work in social justice, part of Syracuse University’s year-long symposium on the theme of “Repair.”
As a Black composer, Green said, “there’s a natural inclination for me to think of repair through the lens of race,” he said. “In the classical music world, there is a lot of repair to be done, even if we woke up tomorrow in terms of who is studied and what orchestras look like.” (Read the full Syracuse.com article...)
