Location: Watson Theater, 316 Waverly Ave.

Part of the Syracuse Symposium

Part of the Syracuse Symposium series.

All are welcome to a screening of short films by Tamika Galanis, including By the Skin of Her Teeth, an experimental reimagining of Harriet Powell’s escape from enslavement in Syracuse in 1839 through the scant archival evidence available. Commissioned by Urban Video Project, this film will also be on view as an architectural projection on the Everson Museum facade through December 19.

An artist talk follows the screenings, in which Galanis discusses her archival research as “dream work” -- a form of speculative and reparative storytelling. A reception will follow.
