The Archive Is a Dream Machine: a Workshop in Speculative Archival Research
Time: Oct. 7, 2026, 4 p.m. - 6:30 p.m.
Location: (date, times, and location T.B.D.)
Part of the Syracuse Symposium series.
Tamika Galanis leads a workshop in speculative methodologies for archival research, sharing clips from her films.
Participants will get hands-on experience producing short film and spoken word pieces on iPads using archival materials and using them to construct a narrative through a process akin to dream work, one that acknowledges the “latent content’, the indices of violence and unrepresentability pointing to what is missing from the archive and seeks to imaginatively and reparatively elaborate on the “manifest content” that remains.
No filmmaking experience required!
Space will be limited. Registration form coming soon!
