Futari (Two Persons) Exhibition

Artist, Liao, is interested in what happens when a man and woman flip the power and sex traditions of heterosexual relationships. This question resides at the center of Liao’s work, which uses photography, music, video, and sculpture to subvert and question conventional gender roles.

Liao was born in Shanghai, and when she was growing up, she was told that an ideal romantic partner would be someone who was older and more mature, someone who could protect her and be her mentor. But when she met her husband, Moro, who was five years younger, she had to reconsider her concept of what a relationship looked like.

This celebration of the "Futari" exhibition at Light Work includes a musical performance by the artist’s band PIMO, a musical and art collective by Pixy Liao and her partner and muse Takahiro Morooka.
